Massive Pleural Effusion

Effusion occupying the whole hemithorax

·         Malignancy (commonest cause)

·         Bacterial infections (parapneumonic, empyema)

·         Tuberculosis

·         Cirrhosis of the liver

·         Diffuse granulomatous disease

·         Pancreatitis (rare)
